Pro Bono Engineering: Keep Barbados Clean

I recently deployed keepbarbadosclean.com as a purely pro bono project. As a Bajan who takes immense pride in my country and heritage, this is a mission I could easily get behind. It is not some complex real-time app or corporate service. It is a self-funded initiative dedicated to physically cleaning up the island, one site at a time. The goal of the platform is to share the direct impact of the work and provide a transparent way for the community to support it through donations. When I architected the site, I focused entirely on accessibility and speed. I wanted anyone, anywhere on the island, to be able to load the site instantly, view the progress of our cleanups, and contribute if they are able. Engineering this site was a reminder of why I write code in the first place. The tech stack is lean and cost-effective, running on Next.js to ensure we do not waste donation funds on bloated hosting fees. It is software serving a physical, tangible purpose, preserving the beauty of Barbados for the next generation.
